You need to purchase and complete our security guard training course and 8 hours “Emergency First Aid and CPR C” Class in order to work as a security guard in Ontario. Finally, using the Training Completion Number (TCN) we give you, you may sign up for the Ontario Security Guard Licensing Exam.

The security guard test has a passing score of 62% (37/60). After passing, you can submit an application for a security guard licence. If you don’t pass the first time, you may try again as many times as you like, but you’ll have to pay the exam cost each time.

Minimum time to complete the security guard training course is 40 hours. However; you are in complete control of your progress and can move through the material as fast or as slow as you like. The course does not expire, so you will always have access to the materials. We update the course materials on a regular basis so you can rest assured that it will always reflect the latest case law and best practices.

Note: You must complete at least 40 hours in order to get the certificate from us.

In Ontario the average hourly wage for a security guard ranges from $15.50 per hour to just under $27.00 per hour. The amount paid will depend on specific duties, experience and the organization that you are working for.

All of the courses we offer are online multimedia courses. That means they include a combination of video, audio and text materials as well as quizzes. You will watch, listen to, and read the course materials.

Yes, we will issue an official Training Certificate.  Training Certificates include the following information:

  • Student name
  • Training entity name
  • Type of training completed
  • Date training completed
  • Signature of training entity representative

Your basic security guard training certification shows that you’ve completed the mandatory 40 hours of training required. When you’re certified, you can take the licensing exam in your province.
